                          Electronic Portfolio Development

Portfolios are excellent tools assessing student learning over an extended period, but keeping learning artifacts organized and accessible is a challenge. This course will introduce you to electronic portfolios - a digital solution to documenting student achievement in a standards-based curriculum.

Developing an electronic portfolio enabled me to reflect on digital tools, learning projects, and assessments that I implement within the curriculum. Because my expertise and field is in technology integration into the classroom, creating a portfolio that connects my current teaching practices to international and national standards was beneficial as a self-assessment on areas of the curriculum I may need to re-design or supplement. I also re-evaluated my personal resume and reflected upon my coursework during my pursuit of an Information Science and Learning Technologies degree.

Identification of standards for the technology-integrated classroom is an important feature of building the electronic portfolio. Using the International Society Technology in Education (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T) allowed me to contemplate on the learning objectives and integration strategies I implemented in my computer lab environment.

Producing a reflection statement about my discoveries during the ISLT program further deepened their impact, as well as did identifying three significant things that I learned while in the program. These realizations gave me the opportunity to consider the thread and hierarchy of knowledge, application, and integration that digital instruction provides to students.
